PAT Testing

  • Portable Appliance Testing (or PAT) is the process of routinely checking electrical appliances for safety, and must be carried out by a qualified electrician. In the UK, PAT testing has become a vital part of Health and Safety requirements for landlords and employers, and all portable electrical appliances must be certified as safe. PAT testing is designed for the protection of employees and tenants; portable appliances can include microwaves, televisions, kettles and almost anything else that can be connected to the mains.Under strict PAT regulations, many appliances need PAT testing at regular intervals. The actual time between tests depends on the type of appliance and the environment in which it is typically used: an annual test is the typical requirement.

If you think that you may require PAT testing, contact Millers for more information and a free estimate. We have extensive experience with the PAT process, and will take on both small jobs of under ten appliances, as well as big jobs of over a hundred. We are fully qualified to carry out the tests to an impeccable standard, and every tested appliance is labelled with a pass or fail.

Although many people think that this is the case, you must factor in the cost of training, as PAT testing is very important and must be carried out competently and to a professional standard. As well as this, PAT equipment and software must be purchased, which could see your costs spiralling up considerably higher than simply calling Millers.
